  63. Log-EQF Version 7 is a powerful, full-featured, and easy to use
  64. logbook program for Amateur Radio operators.
  65.  
  66. DESCRIPTION:  Log-EQF features a menu-driven system, complete
  67. with mouse control. Beam headings from your exact QTH, automatic
  68. reports from previous QSOs, date and time logging (with built-in
  69. UTC conversion), notepads, and a user-defined field make logging
  70. effortless.  DXCC country and CQ/ITU zone reports are available
  71. on-line from callsign entries.  CW may be sent from 6 memories
  72. or from the keyboard, using the CT serial or parallel interfaces.
  73. Most popular callsign databases are also supported.
  74.  
  75. Complete TNC support includes a monitor window on the logging
  76. screen, a terminal program, and file upload and download
  77. provisions.  DX announcements can be sent and received using the
  78. built-in PacketCluster (tm) system.

  80. Radio interface functions are provided for most popular radios
  81. with computer control capability.  Radio frequency and mode are
  82. automatically entered into the logbook from the radio, and the
  83. VFO frequency and mode may be set from the logbook.

  85. Contest mode provides streamlined log entry, dupe-checking,
  86. multiplier scoring, and automatic serial number generation.
  87. Searches, sorts, QSL label and logbook printouts, and convenient
  88. viewing modes round out Log-EQF's versatile features. Other
  89. programs can also be run while Log-EQF remains memory resident -
  90. Log-EQF will relocate into expanded memory, if available.

  94. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:  Log-EQF can be run on any 100% IBM-
  95. compatible computer with at least 512K memory and DOS 3.3 or
  96. higher.  The program works with all video adapters, monochrome or
  97. color.  A hard drive is recommended, but Log-EQF will run fine on
  98. floppy-based computers if the following files are installed:
  99. LOG-EQF.EXE, PREFIX.LIB, STATES.LIB, and DUPE-EQF.EXE.  (DUPE-
  100. EQF.EXE may be omitted if contest operation is not required).

  102. REGISTRATION:  The user registration fee for Log-EQF is $30 (U.S.
  103. funds).  Registered users receive the latest version of Log-EQF,
  104. along with DXCC, WAS, and logbook file import/export utilities.

  136. ===== Installation =====================================

  138. The installation procedure for Log-EQF is quite simple.  The
  139. package includes a program, "INSTALL", which automates the
  140. entire process.  You will need about 1Mb of available disk space
  141. on the hard drive on which you plan to install Log-EQF.
  142.  
  143. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  144. Log-EQF.
  145.  
  146.  
  147. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  148.  
  149. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  150.  
  151.    o  Place Log-EQF distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  152.       appropriate diskette drive.
  153.  
  154.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.BAT" program on the distribution diskette.
  155.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  156.       the MS-DOS command, "a:", and then type "INSTALL"
  157.  
  158.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  159.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  160.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  161.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  162.       the Log-EQF files to that directory.  If you received Log-EQF
  163.       on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette
  164.       drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the installation
  165.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  166.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  167.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys
  168.       files.

  171. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  172.  
  173. If you downloaded Log-EQF from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  174. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  175. following steps.
  176.  
  177.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  178.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  179.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  180.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  181.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  182.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  183.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  184.       the package.

  186.    o  Execute the "INSTALL" program which you have extracted.  For
  187.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  188.       the Log-EQF package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
